I first started blogging about a decade ago.

I blogged for a year or two and then I felt led by the Lord to stop. In 2021, I started blogging again. I have blogged pretty consistently for the last year or so. This will be my last blog for a while. I am stopping because I am sensing from the Lord it is time to stop. I imagine the Lord will have me pick this up in the future. When that happens, I will happily blog again.

My last blog for a while is going to be about the state of our country, as well as the state of the church in our country. I must warn you. If you offend easily, this blog is not for you. This is a topic that we don't like to think about very much. However, it is a topic that we must be willing to address and know how to address with our children.

Before we get into the how and when to have this conversation, let us first start with the mindset that is needed to have the conversation. As a parent, I must be willing to embrace "the AWKWARD". Talking to your children about sex, porn, etc., is awkward. Jesus is Majestic. He is Messiah. He wants to be Master, and He wants us to live on Mission for Him. We have discussed this in the last several blogs. Knowing He is Majestic, and Messiah motivates me to make Him Master of my life. This includes things like being Master of my purity. When He is Master, then I let God help me walk in freedom from things like porn and shame. I then take it a step further and let Him Master my life as I live on Mission for Him.

We have truly seen how "God is MAJESTIC". We have looked at 2 Chronicles 26 and how the MAJESTY of God cannot tolerate arrogance. To understand how to start walking away from things like pornography and shame, we must go through a detox. We have looked at this in previous blogs and podcasts. This involves confession, fasting, accountability, etc. However, to consistently walk in freedom, we need a solid understanding of who God is. The best place to start with this is God's Majesty. We have 8 children (ages 4 to 23). Recently, one of our youngest children was diagnosed with ADHD. We have been doing tons of research on what that means for us moving forward and just learning how to best help them.

We are learning that ADHD is not a negative, but a positive. Folks who have this just see the world differently, have lots of energy, are able to accomplish a great many things in life because of that excess energy, and on some level are just generally more empathetic/sympathetic. In essence, I am learning that ADHD is a gift!!

What is shame? Guilt says I feel bad for doing wrong. Shame says I feel worthless because there is something wrong with me.
Where did shame come from? (Genesis 3) When Adam and Eve sinned their eyes were opened, and they realized they were naked.  In Genesis 2:25 they were naked with no shame, but the moment they sinned, in their nakedness they felt shame.

Importance of Tracking Temptation
In previous blogs we have looked at confession to God and others. We have looked at what role a mentor or sponsor or accountability plays. We have looked at the concept of a sexual sin inventory, as well as a 30 day media fast. We have challenged you to have an “Escape Plan” when tempted, etc.
In this blog, we will look at the importance of tracking our temptation so we can grow in our own self-awareness of when and how we are tempted. We will also look at heart, meaning what are those negative emotions that leave us vulnerable to lust, pornography, etc. The hope is that you will see how Jesus wants to heal your heart and meet you in the midst of those negative emotions.
